Overview and Benefits
1. What is changing?
You now have the ability to run your PayPal POS with a PayPal business account. With a PayPal business account, you can manage in-person and online payments in one place using a single login and maintain consistent reporting. This also helps us deliver improvements and our new features faster, so you can continue to run and grow your business with PayPal.
2. What is a PayPal business account, and what do I gain by getting one?
A PayPal business account allows you to accept payments from customers under your business name and manage both in-person and online transactions using built-in business tools and reporting features.
It gives you more ways to get paid and manage your money, with faster access to available funds in your PayPal wallet, new additional payment options, and a simplified login and backoffice experience.
If you choose to sign up for a PayPal business account, you will use it to receive funds for your PayPal POS service going forward. As part of the sign-up process, we will transfer your PayPal POS account information (account details, financials and payout information) so you can manage your PayPal POS and funds in your PayPal wallet.
Note: You can update the transferred financials and the autowithdrawal settings at any time from your new PayPal business account Money and Wallet pages.
3. Is this change permanent?
Yes. Once you start running your POS from a PayPal business account, you won’t be able to switch back to your PayPal POS account.
4. Is this change optional?
Yes. Right now this change is optional for eligible PayPal POS merchants looking to get access to additional features via a PayPal business account. If you decide not to sign up, you can continue using your existing PayPal POS account and back office.
5. What new features will I get access to as part of this change?
You’ll unlock faster access to your available earnings and additional tools to help you manage cash flow, such as eligibility for PayPal Working Capital and the PayPal Business Debit Mastercard®, where available and subject to eligibility and approval. Your PayPal POS sales will now also count toward your PayPal Working Capital eligibility, where applicable.
You may also get access to manual card entry, where available and subject to eligibility.

Some features may no longer be available, including PayPal QRC, Zettle Invoicing, Payment links
Accepting Payments
7. Will this interrupt my ability to take payments?

8. What happens to my data and funds?
As part of the sign-up flow, we will transfer your available POS information and data to your PayPal business account. Your historic PayPal POS transaction data will remain accessible in the PayPal POS app and through links in your back office. Your data will remain secure, and your PayPal wallet lets you store, manage, and use your payment methods and balances to send, receive, and spend money with PayPal.
Funds will now be immediately available in your PayPal balance, and an auto-withdrawal will be set to transfer them directly to the financial instrument linked to your PayPal account. However, you can update the auto-withdrawal settings at any time and use your PayPal balance to make payments directly from your account.
9. How long does getting a PayPal business account take?
On average, it takes just a few minutes. You’ll be guided step-bystep to activate your PayPal business account. As part of the process, we will transfer the information needed to set up your account, and you'll be able to continue taking payments as usual.
10. Will I need to provide any additional information about myself or my business?

We will collect a phone number to confirm your identity and to use for multi-factor authentication with your PayPal business account. If additional information is required to meet legal/regulatory requirements, we’ll notify them and provide a deadline; functionality may be limited until completed.
