Policy Updates
Upcoming Changes to Zettle by PayPal General Terms and Conditions and Zettle by PayPal Payment Terms and Conditions
Issue Date: 2 April 2026
Effective Date: 2 June 2026
We’re updating the terms and conditions for merchants using our Zettle by PayPal services as part of the integration of Zettle by PayPal service into PayPal and the transition to our new PayPal Point of Sale (POS) offering.
These changes reflect the consolidation of Zettle by PayPal services into the PayPal ecosystem and align terminology with our new POS branding.
We are combining the Zettle by PayPal General Terms and Conditions and the Zettle by PayPal Payment Terms and Conditions into a single set of PayPal Point of Sale Terms and Conditions (POS Terms). This removes duplication and streamlines your agreement.
The new POS Terms supplement the PayPal User Agreement. Where appropriate, they now refer you to the User Agreement instead of duplicating provisions.
All terminology has been updated to reflect the new Point of Sale / POS branding in line with PayPal’s rebranding approach.
The updated Terms incorporate new aspects of the POS offering, including enhancements to payment flows and the ability to settle funds directly into your PayPal business account.
How the updated POS Terms apply:
The new POS Terms will apply once you move to the integrated PayPal model. Until then, if you are still using Zettle by PayPal service on the legacy setup (with payouts to your bank account), you will continue to be covered by the existing Zettle by PayPal terms. The new POS Terms will only apply once your account is migrated.
Offline Payments (opt-in) and our rebranding to PayPal Point of Sale apply immediately to all merchants, both legacy and integrated. Using Offline Payments means you accept the feature’s specific terms (as described in the POS Terms), while your broader service remains under the existing Zettle by PayPal terms and conditions until you migrate.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Your Zettle by PayPal Account
Effective 1 April 2025.
We are introducing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Zettle by PayPal accounts. This additional security measure will help safeguard your account from unauthorized access. Going forward, when logging in to your Zettle by PayPal account or making certain account changes (such as updating your bank details), you will be required to verify your identity using MFA via email. This means that in addition to your password, you will receive a one-time verification code via email to confirm your login or changes to sensitive account settings.
We will roll out this security update starting 15 April 2025.
Please ensure that your registered email address is up to date in your Zettle by PayPal account settings. When logging in or making key account changes, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the email verification step.
