Zettle Terminal Troubleshooting

In this article you will find step-by-step guides to help you troubleshoot your Terminal.

Getting started

My Terminal is not turning on

  • Make sure your Terminal is charged. Please plug in the charging cable and power adapter provided. When the Terminal is properly connected, you will hear a sound.
  • Try long pressing on the power button. 

If your Terminal still won’t turn on, please contact our support team for further assistance.

Charging

My Terminal is not charging

  • Please make sure your Terminal is properly connected to the USB-C cable and adapter provided in your starter pack.
  • When the Terminal is properly connected, you will hear a sound and see the charging battery symbol in the status bar if the Terminal is on.

If it still doesn't work, please contact our support team.

My Terminal is not charging in the Zettle Printer & Dock.

  • Please make sure your Printer & Dock is properly connected to the cable and adapter provided in your starter pack, and that the light indicator by the charging port is showing a red light. 
  • Make sure the Terminal is attached to the Printer & Dock. You should feel that they are magnetically attached. A printer icon in the Terminal status bar will also indicate that it’s connected properly.
  • Dirt can accumulate over time and prevent a charge. Gently clean the 6 small golden circles/pins on the back of the Terminal or on the Printer & Dock with a soft brush/cloth and alcohol. Do not use anything metallic to avoid damaging the circles/pins.

Wifi and mobile network

The wifi on my Terminal is not working. 

  • Turn the wifi off and on.
  • Make sure you have entered the correct password.
  • Make sure your router is connected correctly. Check your router manual for more detailed information about the setup.

Note: The Zettle Terminal does not support open wifi networks (such as airport or train wifi networks) since they are unsecure.

The mobile network is not working on my Terminal. 

  • Make sure your mobile network is turned on. Go to Settings->Network->Mobile Network to check your mobile network.
  • Restart your Terminal.

Built-in barcode scanner

The barcode scanner on my Terminal is not working. 

Make sure you have turned on the barcode scanner by pressing the purple button on the right-hand side of the Terminal. You should then see a light beam on top of the Terminal. If you don’t see a light beam, please contact our support team

Restart

How do I force restart my Terminal?

  1. If you need to force restart your Terminal for any reasons, please long press on the power button for about 10 seconds and the Terminal will restart itself. 
  2. If step one didn’t work, please insert a pin into the little hole located on the right-hand side of your Terminal to cut the power. You can then press the power button again to turn it on.
